Operating Room Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
One thing Operating Room Technicians are in charge of is making sure all the materials that are needed before, during, and after surgery are in place. There are three different types of Operating Room Technicians (Scrub Surgical, Circulating Surgical, and Second Assistant Technologist). The Scrub Surgical Technologist is in charge of handling all the instruments a surgeon would need during surgery, they are trained to know what instrument is going to be needed in every part of surgery. Circulating Surgical are in charge of monitoring what is going on in the surgery room and getting any extra supplies that are needed. Lastly, the Second Assistant Technologist are in charge of assisting a surgeon during surgery. For example the Second Assistant can be sponging certain areas, holding instruments as directed, and Ect.

Education:
The first step in becoming an Operating Room Technician is obtaining a high school diploma. After that you must have an Associate’s Degree in Surgical Technician Then you must get certified by the NBSTSA. Following that you must obtain a job. The very last step is Advancing in this career which you choose.
Demand for this profession:
The demand for this profession has increased by 15% over years.  Even though the increase was small it was still an increase which means there is a growing demand.  
Summary:

This is a profession I would like to pursue. A reason why I would like to pursue this profession is because they still get to be part of the surgery but do not have the same amount of pressure By agreeing to pursue this career I can still help save people’s life. By doing this I can have a positive impact on people’s life. .
