Student Success Statement
A Choice: Poverty or Prosperity
“I hated poverty. Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and I can change that(poverty). It depends upon how hard I want to work, and I decided that I would change it.”
Ben Carson
Reflection:
Mr.Carson is trying to tell us that no matter what situation you're in it's your choice if you want to succeed or stay below depending on how hard you work. The only one who can decide your future is you, no one makes a big enough impact to keep your life below. When something happens to you you can’t blame anyone else because of the outcomes, you can only blame yourself because it was up to you to make things better or keep them bad. An example would be if you break your phone and want a new one, it is up to you to work and collect money to buy a new phone. Another example would be if you don’t finish your classwork, even though your surroundings might have distracted you it was up to you to ignore them and keep working. In the end you can’t blame anyone else because all the decisions are yours and you have to decide for the better. Nothing is impossible in life , no matter how hard they may seem. The only thing that makes them impossible is you not working towards them. No matter what position you are in you can always make it out, the only thing you need is an education. If you work hard now it will pay off later. By working hard you are bringing yourself closer to your goal. The key to success is having a good education, without an education you will get nowhere in life.
